FAQ

Thank you for your interest in our logo service. We have spent over 40 years creating award-winning promotions for individuals and major corporations. We’re sure we can create a logo that will distinguish your enterprise from the competition and burn your image in the mind of your prospects.

Unlike many others who operate on the Internet, we never use clip-art or “do-it-yourself” logo creation programs. Every design we propose is original and based on your needs and desires.

Our current design fee for logos is $100.00. This includes full copyright release and one design of your choice delivered as six digital files covering all possible print and Internet application needs. You may place your order through our secure Paypal site. Remember, this fee is 100% refundable if you aren’t delighted with our work. In a few hours after receipt of your payment you’ll receive an e-mail with our logo design book PDF and our Logo Profile. This is an easy to complete form that will help you explain exactly what you want. Once you complete and return the form we begin to craft your logo. The initial proposals usually arrive in your in-box within 48 hours. At this point, you can call us and discuss the work or respond via e-mail. We will value your input and help you fine-tune the design to your complete satisfaction.

Some clients don’t like to give direction. They think it will stifle our creativity. PLEASE, don’t be shy! If you have seen a design you like, send it along or direct us to it on the Internet. No, we won’t copy it, that would be unethical, but it will help us better understand your expectations.

You can even choose elements from several designs. For instance you might say; “use the font from design A and the colors from design B.” The more direction you provide, the faster and better your design will evolve.

Some clients expect their designer to continue to show them new examples until they see something they like. Major corporate ad agencies and design firms will sometimes agree to this practice. Of course, they bill upwards of $100,000.00 for a single identity package. This is rarely successful practice for the entrepreneur. Your design project needs to be viewed as a collaboration between us. The success of your project is equally dependent on your ability to express yourself and the designer’s ability to execute.

Remember, you can always call us at (415) 558-8902 between the hours of 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM, Pacific Time, Monday through Friday.

Thank you again for your interest in our service.

Yes, we hate reading boiler-plate terms and conditions as much as you do. Unfortunately, sometimes they are necessary:

1. Revisions In our article on logo creation we discuss the process used by many large agencies and corporate design firms. Essentially, they flood their clients with hundreds of options, cleverly stacking the deck in favor of the ones they prefer. Then they provide unlimited revisions. The client is usually exhausted long before the design staff (who, after all, is on salary). All this is possible because the usual fee for such a program is between $50,000 and $100,000. Few entrepreneurs can afford this luxury.

Our program is designed to give you the advantage of corporate-level design at a tiny fraction of the cost. We start by listening carefully to your description of needs. Then we develop our best proposals (usually between 4 and 6 examples). Then we ask for your feedback and make the revisions you request. The process usually goes back and forth three to four times, but we’ll do up to 20 revisions per assignment. If a job take more than 20 revisions, it means we just can’t communicate (and that rarely happens).

Logo design programs are truly collaborations between clients and designers. Our best efforts are still no better than the quality of your directions. The great advantage you enjoy is that the extremely low cost of our program makes it possible to engage other designers if our efforts fail. And again, that rarely ever happens.

2. Copyrights It’s so silly to see some designers trying to charge extra for copyright releases. Why would a client engage a designer to create a mark, then pay extra for the right to use it? That will never happen here. You job is “work-for-hire” from the very start. That means you own all rights (unless you fail to pay our initial fee) and you own them forever! All we ask is that we be allowed to use the final art (or any design related to your project) in our portfolio. This might include showing it to new clients, posting it on our site or entering it in design competitions.

3. Third party art and photography As we said, we’ll never use clip-art, logo generation programs, templates in the creation of your logo. Everything we propose is 100% original UNLESS you direct us to use part or all of a third party design. If you provide artwork or photography you want incorporated in your design we will rely on your assurance that you have the right to use it. Remember, just because you paid another artist to create something does not necessarily give you the right to reproduce or alter it. If you are in doubt, please check with the original creator.

4. FINALLY, we love serving entrepreneurs like yourself because it gives us the opportunity to work with some of the most creative people on the planet. We have never failed to produce great work for a client who was willing and able to communicate their vision with clarity and precision.
